President-elect’s “Start Now” Check List

  • Collect all transition information early from the outgoing president, secretary and board
  • Meet with the club secretary and clarify roles and responsibilities
  • Draft action plan and budget that fits the objectives
  • Meet with club officers and board of directors by April 1 to discuss objectives, budget, and the selection of committee chairpersons
    • Enter resulting goals into Rotary Club Central (RCC)
    • Appoint committee chairpersons by May 1st , meet with them individually to review responsibilities
    • Organize joint meetings of outgoing board and incoming board in May and June, to exchange ideas and to learn from their accomplishments and experiences
    • Urge your officers, board members, and committee chairpersons to attend the District Training Assembly
    • Appoint and meet with the program chairperson and discuss programs for the coming year and begin scheduling programs for July, August and September
  • Finalize goals/objectives & budget
  • Prepare for a Club Assembly during early July to bring plans to the club
  • Meet with bulletin/newsletter editor to discuss the content of the club’s newsletter
  • Ask the editor to include items from the governor’s newsletter, as well as items from you
  • Create a My Rotary Account and begin to familiarize yourself with Rotary Club Central and the many other tools available to you and your club officers on rotary.org
  • Review and coordinate the DG and AG visit schedule
  • Add the District Governor, Assistant Governor, District Governor Elect, District Governor Nominee, and District Governor Nominee Designate to your Club’s mailing list for club bulletins and other appropriate correspondence
  • Enjoy a productive, exciting and fun year!
