Julie Carney
District Governor Elect, District 7120
Julie joined Avon Rotary in 2009 after experiencing, firsthand, the Interact Program. She jumped right into the Interact Program and ran the local club at Avon High School with fellow Rotarians. In 2010 she was asked to be the District Chair for Interact and held that position until 2012.
At the Club level, Julie started out as the Club Counselor/Youth Exchange Officer and held that position from 2011-2013. In 2012 Julie joined the Youth Exchange District Committee and was the Outbound Chair 2012-2015, the Inbound Chair 2015-2018, and the District Chair 2018-2020. During that time, she was also the Country Officer for Argentina, Bolivia, and Ecuador. Julie and her family have hosted 6 Exchange Students from 2010-2015. Their daughter went on Exchange to Belgium in 2017-18.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) has been a big part of her and her husband’s life since their son attended in 2010. At the closing ceremony, the RYLA Chair asked if anyone wanted to get involved. Julie and Jim immediately raised their hands and jumped right in. They became chaperones from 2011-2020 and Julie took over as District Chair of RYLA 2017-present.
